Ordering & Delivery

Common questions about how to place orders and receive your produce.

You can place orders through our online portal, by email at orders@bishopstables.com, or by phone at (401) 949-0378. For wholesale accounts, we recommend setting up a standing weekly order for the most reliable service. Standard orders should be placed by Wednesday at 5 PM for delivery the following week.

We deliver throughout Rhode Island on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Massachusetts deliveries (Greater Boston, South Shore, Cape Cod) are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Connecticut deliveries are on alternate Tuesdays. Custom delivery schedules are available for high-volume accounts. Contact us to confirm coverage in your specific area.

Our minimum order for direct delivery is one full pallet ($850+) for local routes. For smaller businesses, we offer consolidated delivery routes with a minimum of $200 per order. Retail stores can order mixed cases starting at $150. Custom growing program minimums vary by crop and are determined during the consultation process.

For standard wholesale orders, we can typically deliver within 5-7 business days of your initial order. Custom growing programs require 2-4 weeks lead time depending on the crop and growing season. We recommend new accounts schedule a consultation call to discuss your specific needs and timeline.

Orders can be modified or cancelled without penalty up until 48 hours before your scheduled delivery. After this cutoff, modifications may not be possible due to harvest scheduling. We understand that business needs change, so please contact us as soon as possible if you need to make adjustments.

Products & Quality

Questions about what we grow, how we grow it, and our quality standards.

We grow over 50 varieties of seasonal vegetables and fruits including tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, squash, carrots, beets, radishes, kale, herbs, and more. We also partner with trusted regional farms to offer items outside our growing capacity. Check our seasonal availability calendar for current offerings. If you're looking for something specific, ask about our custom growing program.

Yes! We are USDA certified organic through NOFA-NY for all field-grown produce. Our organic certification covers over 40 crop varieties. We also offer transitional organic produce for businesses transitioning to organic sourcing. All organic products are clearly labeled in our catalog and on delivery invoices.

Quality assurance is built into every step of our process. We harvest produce at peak ripeness (never before), use temperature-controlled transport, and deliver within 24-48 hours of harvest. Every batch undergoes quality inspection before packing, and temperature loggers on every delivery prove cold chain integrity. We stand behind our Freshness Guarantee — if produce doesn't meet your standards, we'll replace it or credit your account.

Absolutely! Our custom growing program works directly with chefs and buyers to cultivate specific heirloom varieties, specialty peppers, or unique vegetables that aren't available through standard distribution. This includes unusual tomato varieties, specialty peppers, colored carrots, and more. Contact us to discuss your requirements and we'll provide a custom growing quote based on volume and timeline.

We pack all orders carefully to minimize damage, but if issues occur, document any damage upon delivery and contact us within 24 hours. We offer our Freshness Guarantee — damaged or substandard produce will be replaced or credited to your account. We continuously improve our packing methods based on feedback, and our delivery team is trained in proper handling procedures.

Billing & Accounts

Information about payment, invoices, and account management.

We accept major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), ACH bank transfers, and checks. Net-30 payment terms are available for approved commercial accounts after a 90-day probation period. All prices are listed in USD and do not include applicable taxes.

Invoices are sent via email on the day of delivery. Standard payment terms are Net 15 for established accounts. New accounts require prepayment for the first three orders. Late payments may result in temporary credit suspension. We offer autopay options for convenience.

Setting up an account is easy! Complete our online account application form, or call (401) 949-0378 to request a paper application. We'll need basic business information, anticipated ordering volume, and delivery address. Once approved (typically within 2-3 business days), you'll receive login credentials for our online ordering portal.

Custom Growing Program

Details about our partnership opportunities for unique crop requirements.

Our custom growing program allows restaurants, retailers, and specialty food companies to commission specific vegetable varieties grown to their exact specifications. This includes heirloom tomatoes, specialty peppers, unique lettuce varieties, colored root vegetables, and more. You tell us what you want, and we grow it on your behalf with dedicated acreage.

Custom growing prices vary based on crop type, volume, and growing season. Generally, custom-grown produce is priced 15-30% above our standard catalog rates to reflect the dedicated acreage and specialized attention. We provide detailed quotes during consultation. Many partners find the premium is offset by reduced competition for exclusive varieties.

Custom growing requires significant planning. For most crops, we need 8-12 weeks from agreement to first harvest. Some longer-season crops like winter squash or root vegetables may require a full growing season (4-6 months). We recommend starting the conversation 2-3 months before you need the product, though we're often able to accommodate shorter timelines for smaller volumes.

While we use best practices to ensure successful harvests, farming involves inherent risks. In rare cases of crop failure due to weather, pests, or other factors beyond our control, we'll offer comparable standard varieties at no additional cost or refund the affected portion of your commitment. Crop insurance provides additional protection for both parties.
